Shadow Wars

Lore

Up to Game Start...

Always Two There AreThe Amber System contains many worlds (Shadows), such as Rebma, Begma, Tir-na Nog'th, Kashfa, Eregnor, Deiga, and of course Amber. At one time some of these nearby Shadows were called the Golden Circle Kingdoms and they were dominated by Amber's government. Now Amber's influence has stretched further out into Shadow in the form of the Republic. Amber is the center of the Republic, which means that all Shadow Systems that wish to have trade and peaceful relations with the Republic must be represented by government officials, or senators, on Amber. The elected head official of the Republic is now Supreme Chancellor Martin, from Rebma and Amber. The Republic works through and with many organizations to ensure that the peace is maintained, including the InterShadow Judiciary branch.

One such organization includes the ancient philosophical Order of, Jedi, which focuses on maintaining and creating peace. Through the generations, the Jedi have faithfully served the Republic as ambassadors, couriers, bodyguards, and defenders of order. The Jedi began under the tutelage of Master Dworkin following the fading influence of the Serpent of Chaos and the Unicorn of Amber faiths throughout Shadow.

Dworkin's teachings about feeling the ebb and flow of order and chaos in the universe (the Force) was passed down to successive generations - one by one, master to apprentice - with only limited early success, as his late son, King Oberon, never believed in the mumbo jumbo philosophy of the Force.

Oberon preferred to rule through guile and sword, and rose through political ranks as a strong monarch for Amber that no external enemy could outfight, outthink, or outsneak. He led the kingdom of Amber through many foul and good times, as the pressures from within matched those from outside, mainly from his children.

Over the years, Oberon fathered several children through political marriages made to ensure continued trade and peace for the Golden Circle Kingdoms. Since Oberon's passing, King Random has fared with mixed results. While the birth of the Republic may be Random's greatest accomplishment, it is also a source of continual anguish for him as he competes with the other Shadow rulers and their representatives in the Senate for advantageous rights within the Republic.

Peace with the Courts of Chaos waxed and waned with mild skirmishes settled more and more quickly as Amber's level of technology advanced. Deploying the Jedi to smooth over hostile situations proved both effective and disasterous, as shortly thereafter all of the Chaos Royal Houses dissolved under the pressure to conform to the Republic's demands for trade and peace during the Chaos Civil War. Many blame the Fall of Chaos on Sumpreme Chancellor Ian, for sending in hundreds of Jedi peace enforcers. Growing resentment by displaced Chaosians continues to be a thorn in the side of the Republic.
