Known by some as "the Lost" sits in his ivory chair with a detached, almost bored expression. His face combines youth and great age, with his dark eyes plumbing bottomless depths. Raven black hair falls to his jaw line, a sharp contrast to skin of alabaster. His delicate fingers clutch the frame of the chair as if his life depended on it, decorated with gaudy rings of coral, mother-of-pearl and haematite. Clothing dark and forbidding, of an antiquated style, he looks lonely, out of place and out of time.

Lysalas' employment in Rebma has offended some of the underwater nobility, but Queen Xanieas remains firm in her decision and continues to support the mysterious outsider, even after the deep water explosion during his first exploration tour. The Director and his staff have recovered from the ordeal and the political fallout to continue their research in the face of powerful opposition.
