"Me" is the GM. This continues the adventure of Helena and Lysalas in Old Rebma/the remains of Atlantis. 2:11 PM Helena has joined 2:12 PM Lysalas has joined me: Are we all here now? Helena: can you hear me now: ? Lysalas: aye. Sorry, was just getting some provisions :) Helena: I thought so. me: Okay. Hopefully better than rations. 2:13 PM Helena: I must now get myself something sweet. me: cue dramatic and somber music... Previously on Shadow Wars... 2:14 PM cutting through stone rubble water rushes through into an ancient hallway with a strange door at its end Helena: we're in a cell. with silver on the floor. 2:15 PM me: lost artifacts sweeping about an old friend long gone exit through vent shafts into a chamber "We're in a cell," thinks Helena. A small amount of melted silver. Lysalas seems interested in leaving. 2:16 PM Helena: Helena finishes her quick inspection of the room. It's small, and has a recognizable look. "This looks like a cell. The tricky part is getting out," she says, in agreement with Lysalas' sentiment. She goes to check the short door. to see if it will open. Lysalas: ..as he is assailed by a thousand year old feelings of guilt, pain and screams for [mercy]...
2:17 PM me: The door does not slide open. Is Helena going to try to pry it open with a lever or something else? More visions of robed figures entering one by one to visit the captive against her will...
2:18 PM Helena: Helena looks around to see if there's something she can use to pry the door open. She probably lost her "stick" in the rush to get out of the other chamber. Lysalas: what does the door look like - material, thickness etc? me: Solid stone perhaps. Helena: She is oblivious to Lysalas' situation. me: Helena finds a long bone. 2:19 PM Helena: oh, swell!! Lysalas: [Solid stone? How impractical] me: Lysalas can hear the whisper of ancient voices berating and taunting in Atlantean... Helena: Luckily, Helena is wearing a full suit, so she doesn't have to pick up the bone with her bare hands. me: The stone is well polished. 2:20 PM Helena: Has bone stick. Helena: [can I have a rusty dagger, too?] me: Helena hasn't found one yet. Lysalas: Lysalas covers his ears and rocks back and fore where he is sat, singing something in a foreign tongue. A prayer perhaps, or maybe just a children's song. Difficult to tell. 2:21 PM Helena: Is there any indication which dirction she should.. me: The darkness is growing oppressive for Lysalas. He can hear her screams. Helena: Helena turns from her inspection of the door... bone in hand... as Lysalas starts to act.........strange...... "Lysalas?" she says, questioningly. 2:22 PM She repeats the question more loudly if he doesn't respond. Lysalas: he doesn't seem to hear, but then he has got his hands clasped over his ears. me: For Lysalas he can almost feel the warmth from the silver... 2:23 PM As though it was bled earlier this very day... Helena: Helena goes over to Lysalas and shakes him gently by the shoulder. "Lysalas??" Her voice is getting a little tense. 2:24 PM Lysalas: He looks up, but through her (which is kinda weird) "Tell them to stop!" He whispers Helena: She frowns at his words, puzzled and a little afraid. "Stop what? Who?" 2:25 PM me: As soon as Helena makes contact with Lysalas the scene changes slowly... Helena sees a semi-transparant body on the ground shackled. And the door is sliding open with a low grind. Helena: She pulls her hand back with a gasp, as though burned. Lysalas: "Hostem repellas longius, Pacemque dones protinus: Ductore sic te praevio, Vitemus omne noxium." He chants me: Someone is entering. There is torchlight from outside. 2:26 PM ooc: What did Lysalas say? Lysalas: http://www.chantcd.com/comp5.htm :) 2:27 PM me: ooc: What did Lysalas say? :-) Lysalas: He grabs his torch and brandishes it at the unseen foe - "Getaway from her!" he says 2:28 PM me: Does Lysalas ignite his torch? Lysalas: yes me: There is a sizzle and then the thin blade of light comes forth. 2:29 PM Helena: Helena jumps back as the thing lights up again. me: The robed figure halts and then retreats as quickly as possible through the hole with shouts to close the door and call the others. Helena: Turning to look at the door again, she tries to see which way to open it - if there's a handle or indication where hinges might be or something. Lysalas: [force point. it's probably impossible, but Lysalas really wants to save the prisoner from certain death] 2:30 PM me: As Helena moves further away from Lysalas much of the scene fades away. 2:31 PM Lysalas turns and sees the woman on the floor huddled in a fetal position. There is a ghostly form a bit a ways in a strange garment. Helena: Helena is going to try to get the door open so she can get Lysalas out of this room. 2:32 PM me: The ghost is moving around towards the now closed door. 2:33 PM Lysalas: lysalas attempts to cut her from the chains with the torch (the trailing chain - she'll still be manacled) me: What are you both doing? Helena: Helena tries to open the door. me: Lysalas slices at the chain and there are blinding sparks and the torch passes through it. The chain is uncut. 2:34 PM Lysalas: He attempts to move the woman, with little idea of where they will go me: Helena struggles to push the door out. Helena: [pushing on the door and then tries to use her spiffy bone lever] 2:35 PM Lysalas: [Does lysalas still see Helena?] 2:36 PM Helena: [brief pause. someone knocked at the door. cub scouts, selling popcorn.] Lysalas: lol 2:37 PM me: When Lysalas touches the woman she screams aloud. Helena hears a whirl through the bowels of the underworld like an ancient howl. Lysalas: [doesn't look like dacia does she?] me: Lysalas: He vaguely recalls a person named Helena... That ghost figure by the door might be her. 2:38 PM Lysalas: does he [recognize] the chained woman? me: Lysalas moves her tangled mass of hair away and the woman is dingy and dark in skin and eyes. But there is something about her of the familiar that blends with Dacia and himself. 2:39 PM The woman begins sobbing. Helena: Helena approaches Lysalas again, circling warily around the torch and trying to get his attention. "Lysalas," she says, her voice quiet but urgent. "Lysalas! Come help me open the door so we can get out of here." me: She clings to Lysalas and says in Atlantean, "You've come for me..." Lysalas: [does he hear this?] me: Yes. 2:40 PM As Helena nears, she sees what Lysalas is doing. "You've come to end the torture. The woman is who Lysalas believes her to be. His childhood glimpses of her matching up with his will. 2:41 PM Lysalas: "I have come," Lysalas says simply. Holding her tightly, he reaches back to where Helena's voice came from. "Help me," he says. me: She pleads with Lysalas. "Take me home, my son." 2:42 PM Lysalas: lysalas attempts to lift her me: She is very light in his arms. But the chain still holds strong. Helena: Helena's expression is one of utter disbelief, as Lysalas asks her to help him save what appears to be a ghost. But, he's carrying the rather dubious looking weapon, so she nods. 2:43 PM Lysalas: [I thought he cut the chain - at least that's what he was attempting to do] me: me: Lysalas slices at the chain and there are blinding sparks and the torch passes through it. The chain is uncut. Lysalas: [damn] Helena: Helena looks at the chain. 2:44 PM Any chance a spiffy bone lever can help bend it open? me: Helena: Not likely. 2:45 PM The woman says softly, "Bring me to your companion." Helena: Helena reaches out, very tentatively, and tries to touch the woman in Lysalas' arms. Hesitant. Nervous. Unsure she really wants to, but... Lysalas: Lysalas attempts to do this, reaching out to touch Helena 2:46 PM [group hug!] Helena: [LOL] me: As soon as they make contact Helena sees the woman solidly as Lysalas does. Helena feels her pain and her hope. 2:47 PM She says to Helena, and she can understand as the words swirl within Helena's mind, "He is the bringer of change. You are the searcher of light." Lysalas: Lysalas takes a step back, allowing Helena to hold her. "You have found Light," Lysalas says 2:48 PM Helena: Helena isn't really sure she wants to take over the care of the woman, but... Lysalas also doesn't give her much choice. She takes the woman, rather than drop her on the ground. Her eyes are wide, and she's apparently speechless. [this is totally outside the realm of her experience and expectation, Lysalas. :) ] 2:49 PM me: The woman falls into Helena's arms and there no weight to her. Lysalas: Lysalas look around to see if anything has changed (ie, are they in the present or is the old toture chamber still there) 2:50 PM me: She embraces Helena and she feels tears slide down her neck through the suit. "You are a new hope for your people," she whispers and like the currents of her land is gone. Lysalas sees the woman turn into a black mist and fade away in towards Helena. The chain falls heavy on the ground with a loud clatter, shattering. 2:51 PM Lysalas: He looks stunned. Helena: Helena stands, equally stunned, tears in her eyes though she's not sure why. "Lysalas?" she manages after a moment. "I'm sorry." Lysalas: "She...she is home." He says me: There is an echo of thought for both, "Return me to my homeland." 2:52 PM ooc: it's clear she is not home yet. Helena: "Where is her..." Helena's words trail off as she suddenly realizes what the woman means. me: Lysalas knows where her home is. Lysalas: [any idea where her home is then. A specific holy site, maybe?] 2:53 PM ah. Alans confused me: The Maelstrom. Helena: [I'm thinking the Maelstrom] Lysalas: does that still exist? me: Good question. Helena: "The Maelstrom?" Helena asks him. me: Lysalas looks at Helena?!? 2:54 PM Lysalas: "Yes, but where?" He murmurs. 2:55 PM [hmm. What about that black hole we blew in the bottlom of old Rebma?] Helena: "Well... I have an idea...." Helena admits. Lysalas: "..go on." 2:56 PM Helena: "From reading in the archives," she says. She thinks. "But I don't know the ruins." Lysalas: "Tell me. I have travelled many ancient sites." 2:57 PM Helena: Helena describes to Lysalas what she read in the scrolls in the archive. 2:58 PM Basically, taking circuitous routes through the heart of old Atlantis, beyond to a special chamber, where one can look out into the Maelstrom. 2:59 PM Lysalas: [oh, not far then. As long as they can get out of thsi chamber, that is.] me: It's on the edge of civilized Atlantean lands where only the holy ones dared travel. 3:00 PM Lysalas: stone door's the only way out, am I right? me: ooc: They can get out and swim there. Getting through the door could be expedited via Lysalas' torch or they can return the way they came. Helena: If they open the stone door, this room might be flooded. No way to tell what's on the other side. me: True. 3:01 PM There is transporting that friend's body too. Helena: [yeah, a Trump would be mighty handy right now...] me: Wouldn't it? Lysalas: Swim out, then. Lysalas will leave the body here for now. me: So no cutting through doors for now? Helena: Helena looks at Lysalas another few seconds, as though trying to make sure he's not going to break down or anything. 3:02 PM Lysalas: not this time :) :) Helena: "We could leave the body here for now, and go out the way we came. Then return," she suggests. "Maybe we can figure out how to get in through the door later." Lysalas: "Agreed," Lysalas says. 3:03 PM Signing off now - thanks for the chat - great drama! Helena: :D sweet! catch you later. me: Sure thing. Thank you both. Take care! Lysalas has left Helena has left
